Simon's Birhtday Party

Simon had a party before his actual birthday at my parents house. We planned to go to the zoo on Saturday and so we wanted all the family to have a chance to celebrate with us. For some reason some of the pictures that I down loaded are not on the computer, so the first party is pretty sparse on pictures. We had a fun time at Grandma and Grandpa's. He was so proud to have everyone honoring him that night. At the bottom of the blog there is a video of Simon playing with his monster truck....don't miss it.

We drove to the zoo from the hotel in , Gladstone that we stayed at the night before. We got to the zoo at,9:00 am. My uncle Tom met us there. Simon was very excited because this day is his actual birthday. He kept asking where is my party, and my cake and presents. He forgot about all of that once we saw all the fun inside the gates.

IT was a little cold when we got to the zoo, so they all piled in to the stroller.

Wow! Could this little sweetie be any happier? No, I don't think so. She is hand feeding a bird from the zoo. You buy nectar from them and hold it up and they just fly down and perch on you and drink the juice.

This is the train that takes you around the, Washington park. It was so beautiful and very cool as the train had to do some maintenance work on the steam engine. He had to empty out the boiler line or something like that, and so we stopped for a minute and all of a sudden there was a ton of steam coming out of the engine of the train, totally cool.

This is a picture of the end of the day at the zoo. We had so much fun. We were there from, 9:00am till 3:30 pm. The kids were beat.

Simon had two opportunities to blow out candles this year. the one on the top is his actual B-day and the one on the bottom is from the party at my parents house.

Fair goers

We went to the fair on Saturday afternoon. We spent the majority of the time in the, Family FREE zone. Notice the emphasis on, FREE. We decided not to ride any of the rides this year or waste our money on the games. We had dinner there and of course for dessert we had an elephant ear. This is Simon on the pony ride. He was facinated with his pony.........His helper, not so much.

Sarah picked the smallest and cutest pony of all. Isn't she cute.

David really wishes he were riding a bull!! We told him to look up and smile for the camera and this is what he did. What a funny guy.

David went up against an older boy in the, Fire fighter challenge. He did really well and wasn't that far behind the other boy.

Simon and Sarah went up against eachother in the, Fire fighter challenge. They had to start by pulling a fire hose through the tunnel and then completing the course to save the teddy from the fire.

We ended our night at the, Rodeo. We had good seats by the action. We saw the bucking broncos and the guys and girls lasso the calfs. We didn't quite make it to the bull riding, but Dave took them over to see them. We had a good day at the fair.
